The new National Education Policy (NEP 2020) has introduced many changes to reform the education in India. One of the recommendations made by NEP 2020 is the inclusion of music and performing arts. As per the policy, students pursuing Higher Education will also be provided with credits and will be able to choose subjects under the banner of performing arts as a part of their course. This is apart of the overall motive of NEP 2020 to create a more holistic education developing the cognitive skills and equipping the students as 21st century learners. Introducing Performing Arts to students in the school will not only enhance their domain knowledge but will also develop their overall personality including their intellectual, social, physical, emotional, moral and aesthetic aptitude. Beside this performing arts education helps students with their development of motor skills, language skills, social skills, decision making, risk taking and inventiveness.
